Office of the General Counsel
Gordon Seymour is the PCAOB general counsel. He was named to this post in February 2007. For the first five years of his tenure as general counsel, he served concurrently as the PCAOB secretary. From November 2003 through February 2007, Seymour was the deputy general counsel. He joined the PCAOB in February 2003 as acting general counsel, and served in that capacity as the Board commenced operations and development of its operating rules.
Prior to joining the PCAOB, Seymour held several positions including senior counselor to the general counsel and assistant general counsel for legislation at the Securities and Exchange Commission. Before joining the SEC, Seymour practiced at the law firm of Williams & Connolly LLP. Seymour also served as law clerk to Judge Ralph K. Winter of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
Seymour earned a B.A., magna cum laude, from Yale College and a J.D., with High Honors, from the University of Chicago, where he was topics & comments editor of the Law Review.
