As deputy general counsel, Michael Stevenson offers legal advice and counsel on all aspects of PCAOB operations. He was named to the position in March 2007 and joined the PCAOB staff in June 2003.
Stevenson came to the PCAOB after eight years with the Securities and Exchange Commission, where he worked both in the Division of Enforcement and in the Legal Policy Group of the Office of the General Counsel. Before joining the SEC staff, Stevenson practiced at the law firm of Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering and at the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. He also served as a law clerk to Judge Cornelia G. Kennedy of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
Stevenson received his B.A. from Michigan State University and is a cum laude graduate of Wayne State University Law School, where he was articles editor of the Law Review.
