Nina Mojiri-Azad is Special Counsel to Board Member Steven B. Harris and advises him on all matters that come before the Board for decision. Previously, she was a Senior Associate General Counsel in the Office of General Counsel where she advised on proposed auditing standards and professional standards. Her work also included reviewing inspection reports, assisting in the application of PCAOB funding rules to registered companies, and reviewing the PCAOB's quarterly and annual financial information provided to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Prior to joining the PCAOB in 2008, Ms. Mojiri-Azad practiced law with two private firms in Washington, D.C. where she specialized in corporate governance and compliance matters. She also spent more than five years at the SEC Division of Corporation Finance. She began as an attorney-advisor in the Office of Natural Resources and Foods and ended her SEC tenure as Special Counsel in the Office of Chief Counsel.
Ms. Mojiri-Azad began her career as a certified public accountant. She worked for more than five years at Ernst & Young LLP during which she developed and executed audit approach plans, participated in the testing of internal controls, and supervised staff accountants and internal auditors.
She earned a B.A. with distinction at George Mason University and a J.D. cum laude at the University of Minnesota Law School.
