Ms. Thompson joined the PCAOB staff in March 2003. As Deputy Director, Registration, she has developed and implemented the registration program for public accounting firms. She previously worked at The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc., as Chief Counsel, Listing Investigations. In that capacity, Ms. Thompson was responsible for advice concerning compliance by the department with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, and also conducted investigations of companies listed on Nasdaq.

Before joining Nasdaq, Ms. Thompson spent over seven years in the Enforcement Division of the Securities and Exchange Commission, where she performed and supervised investigations into possible violations of the federal securities laws. Ms. Thompson had previously practiced law with the Washington, D.C. law firm of Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering.

Ms. Thompson is a graduate, magna cum laude, of Princeton University and received her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School.
