Paul E. Bijou joined the PCAOB in June 2003, becoming Deputy Director in the Division of Registration and Inspections and Regional Director of the New York office in August 2003. He retired as Partner from PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2002, after working there for more than 26 years.

Mr. Bijou began his career in the audit practice of the New Jersey office of Coopers & Lybrand and was admitted into the partnership in 1985. He developed an audit expertise in a number of industries, including banking, manufacturing, and automotive and consumer products.

In the early 1990s, Mr. Bijou was a member of the national leadership team and led the New York Regional Practice. He was an organizing leader of the firm’s service line called In-Control Services, which was based on the Integrated Framework of Internal Controls. He also served on the team that integrated the In-Control Services of Coopers & Lybrand and the business control services of Price Waterhouse. In addition, he developed the Strategic Risk Services Group, and served as a Senior Partner on the Strategic Services National Leadership team of PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Mr. Bijou earned an accounting degree from Iona College in New York and is a certified public accountant.
