Board to Hold Public Meeting, Hear Expert Advice

The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) announced today that it will hold its regular monthly public meeting on Tuesday, February 4, 2003 at 2:30 p.m. in the William O. Douglas Room of the Securities and Exchange Commission, 450 Fifth Street NW, Washington, DC.

The PCAOB will hear presentations from members of the American Assembly project on The Future of the Accounting Profession, as well as representatives from the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy.

American Assembly - Two years ago, the American Assembly, a group of distinguished public policy experts based at Columbia University, New York, formed a steering committee whose purpose is a broad exposition of the future of the accounting profession. The Honorable Roderick M. Hill, former SEC Chairman, and Russell Palmer, former Dean of the Wharton School, will brief the Board on the committee's work to date.

National Association of State Boards of Accountancy – This 54-member Association enhances the effectiveness of state-level accountancy regulation through programs that include identifying, researching and analyzing major, current and emerging issues affecting its members. David A. Costello, President and Chief Executive Officer, will provide information on cooperation with state boards on enforcement and discipline, registration and on the impact of recent federal law at the state level.
