Director of Technical Policy Implementation to Leave PCAOB

Washington, D.C., Apr. 21, 2008

The PCAOB announced today that Sharon A. Virag, Director of Technical Policy Implementation, will leave the PCAOB at the end of April to take a position in the private sector.

Ms. Virag was responsible for working closely with the Board and division leadership to identify, coordinate and assist in implementing technical policy. Her projects included implementation of internal control over financial reporting (AS No. 5), complexity in financial reporting, and auditing issues related to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

“Sharon has been a vital member of the Board’s team. Rebuilding our internal control audit standard was no easy task and Sharon was a core contributor to its success. I am grateful for her contribution to the effective implementation of the new standard,” said Chairman Olson.

Before taking on her most recent position, Ms. Virag was an Associate Chief Auditor in the Office of the Chief Auditor and advised the Board on the establishment of auditing and other related professional practice standards. In this role, she focused primarily on the Board's internal control-related standards and was the project leader for the development of AS No. 5.

“Serving the public interest at the PCAOB has been an unparalleled and rewarding experience for me. The PCAOB has dedicated and talented staff, and I am grateful I had the opportunity to contribute to the organization’s important mission,” said Ms. Virag.

Prior to joining the PCAOB, Ms. Virag was a part of the professional staff at Deloitte & Touche, LLP.s
