Washington, D.C., Dec. 22, 2009
The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board announced today the establishment of and candidate solicitation for an Academic Fellowship Program.
This program is designed to appoint, annually, an experienced accounting researcher and academic, with an active interest in auditing and oversight matters, to serve as an Academic Fellow at the PCAOB Washington, DC, headquarters for a term of up to 12 months.
“I am pleased to announce the creation of the PCAOB Academic Fellowship Program. We believe the PCAOB will greatly benefit from this partnership with accounting research professionals,” said Daniel L. Goelzer, Acting PCAOB Chairman.
The inaugural Fellow will be assigned to the Office of Research and Analysis (ORA) for the academic year 2010-2011. ORA identifies and analyzes emerging accounting and auditing issues, and other risk areas that may contribute to audit failures.
The Academic Fellow will provide analytical support and expertise to ORA and other PCAOB staff. Specific work assignments will depend upon the current needs of the PCAOB as well as the Academic Fellow’s interests and personal qualifications.
Frequently Asked Questions about the program, including how to apply, can be found on the Web site at http://www.pcaobus.org/Careers/Pages/Fellowship.aspx. Applications are due by Jan. 30, 2010.
