Michelle R. Jackson is Board Counsel to Board Member Mark Calabria and advises him on all matters coming before the Board.

Prior to joining the PCAOB, Ms. Jackson has worked as an attorney, consultant, and business leader with more than 25 years of experience spanning both the public and private sectors. She most recently operated her own law practice while serving as Director of Risk Management for the Southwest Riverside County Association of Realtors, where she also held the role of Interim CEO.

Ms. Jackson’s past private sector experience includes serving as in-house counsel for a major real estate investment trust in Irvine, California, and as counsel and Acting Chief Compliance Officer for a large investment management firm in San Diego. She has also demonstrated a strong commitment to public service and governance, including an appointment by the Governor of California to the California Board of Accountancy. She previously served on the Saddleback College Board of Governors, where she was Chair of the Finance Committee and First Vice President, and as a board member of Tilly’s Life Center. At the local level, she served as Vice Chair of the Dana Point Planning Commission.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Jackson held senior federal government positions, including serving as a Presidential appointee at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. As Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary for Financial Institutions, she held Top Secret clearance and represented the Treasury in high-level engagements with the White House, Congress, and senior leadership of key financial regulatory agencies, including the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Federal Reserve. Prior to her Treasury service, she was counsel to the U.S. Senate Banking Committee under Chairman Senator Phil Gramm, where she advised on significant legislation, including the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 and the Sudan Peace Act.

Ms. Jackson holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in securities and financial regulation from Georgetown University Law Center, a Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Whittier Law School, and a Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from the University of North Dakota.
