Sharon Park is Board Counsel to Board Member Kyle S. Hauptman at the PCAOB, where she advises on all matters that come before the Board, including standard-setting, registration, inspections, and enforcement policy affecting the auditors of U.S. public companies and SEC-registered broker-dealers.
Before joining the PCAOB, Ms. Park served as Counsel to the Director of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's Division of Trading and Markets, advising on Commission-level rulemaking and regulatory initiatives involving the major securities market participants, such as national securities exchanges and broker-dealers, and coordinated policy issues across SEC divisions and offices. She previously served as Special Counsel in the same division, overseeing systemically important financial market infrastructures and representing the SEC in international regulatory initiatives. She co-chaired an international working group that examined operational risk management practices among global financial market infrastructures.
Ms. Park began her legal career as a litigation associate at a New York law firm. She then served in the Internal Revenue Service's Office of the Associate Chief Counsel, where she drafted federal tax regulations and other published guidance and worked with the Department of the Treasury and other federal agencies on significant tax policy matters.
Ms. Park received an LL.M. in tax from New York University School of Law, where she served as Graduate Editor of the Journal of International Law and Politics, and a J.D. from Albany Law School of Union University, where she was a Staff Editor of the Albany Law Review. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and is admitted to practice in New York and the District of Columbia.
