PCAOB Posts New Resource to Help Auditors Implement Quality Control Standard

QC 1000 Questions and Answers is the latest in the PCAOB’s efforts to provide implementation information and resources

WASHINGTON, Aug. 17, 2026

Today, the PCAOB released QC 1000 Questions and Answers, a new staff resource that provides answers to questions about certain matters related to the implementation of QC 1000, A Firm’s System of Quality Control, ahead of the standard’s December 15, 2026, effective date. This resource does not address provisions that are the subject of the proposed or conforming amendments that the Board issued for public comment on June 9, 2026.

QC 1000 Questions and Answers is the latest in a range of materials – including videos, online knowledge checks, and more – that the PCAOB has released to assist firms and auditors with the implementation of QC 1000 and other new standards and rules in order to improve audit quality and protect investors. To find these resources and other important information, visit the Implementation Resources for PCAOB Standards and Rules page.

For further questions regarding the application of the requirements of QC 1000, contact the PCAOB’s Office of the Chief Auditor (OCA) at 202-591-4395. Registered public accounting firms may also request a consultation with OCA through the Firm Consultation Process on the interpretation and application of PCAOB standards, including QC 1000.
