Mary M. Sjoquist

Mary M. Sjoquist is the director of the Office of Outreach and Small Business Liaison, which is responsible for executing the Board’s outreach strategy, with a particular focus on the small business community. This office is also responsible for planning and conducting a program of forums for auditors of small businesses and smaller broker-dealers. She was named the first director of this office when it was created in December 2010. Previously, Ms. Sjoquist served as director of communications. She also served for six years as special counsel to founding PCAOB Board Member Bill Gradison.

Prior to joining the PCAOB in May 2003, Ms. Sjoquist was a partner in the law firm of Patton Boggs LLP, where she chaired the firm’s business practice group. Sjoquist also spent four years in the Division of Corporation Finance of the SEC.

She is a member of the District of Columbia Bar Association and is active in the American Bar Association’s Federal Regulation of Securities Committee, the Middle Market and Small Business Committee, and the Law and Accounting Committee.

Ms. Sjoquist earned a B.A. from the University of Waterloo, Canada, and a J.D. from the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law.
