Public Affairs Director Colleen Brennan Has Left the PCAOB

The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board announced today that Colleen Brennan, director of public affairs, has left the PCAOB after nearly 12 years of service at the board.

Ms. Brennan was the Board spokesperson and oversaw all external communications, which included press and media strategy, speech writing and editing, the website, and social media.

"Colleen ably led the Office of Public Affairs and is highly regarded for her many years of dedication to all PCAOB communications activities," said PCAOB Chairman William D. Duhnke. "We thank her for her service and extend our best wishes in her future endeavors."

She joined the PCAOB as deputy director of public affairs in February 2007, and rose to director of public affairs in December 2010. Under her leadership, the PCAOB's news and web update subscribers list grew by more than 110 percent, and she advanced the organization's branding and digital communications.

"It has been an honor and a privilege to serve under several distinguished Board chairs and to work with so many talented people who share a commitment to the PCAOB's core mission of protecting investors," said Ms. Brennan.

Ms. Brennan joined the PCAOB after six years as director of communications for Promontory Financial Group, where she managed the firm's communications, and handled client communications and government relations, as needed.

Previously, she served at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation as special assistant to the chairman for policy, and earlier, as deputy to the chief of staff. Before that, she worked at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency as the special assistant to the acting comptroller; she joined the OCC as an analyst in the Economic and Policy Analysis division.

Prior to these regulatory positions, Ms. Brennan was a Washington, DC, financial reporter at National Journal's CongressDaily, and the Bureau of National Affairs' Banking Report. She earned an MA from Columbia School of Journalism, and an AB from Cornell University.
