Brent A. Simer

Brent A. Simer serves as Chief of Staff at the PCAOB, where he advises Chairman Demetrios (Jim) Logothetis on all strategic, policy, and organizational matters.

Prior to his appointment in March 2026, Mr. Simer was a partner and served as the Global Professional Practice and Public Policy Leader at EY Global, advising leadership on regulatory, public policy, and geopolitical issues affecting EY's network of member firms.

Mr. Simer originally joined the PCAOB in 2018 and served as Special Adviser to Board Member Duane M. DesParte until November 2023. While Board Member DesParte served as Acting Chair from June 2021 to January 2022, Mr. Simer held the position of Acting Chief of Staff. He continued in that role until March 2022.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Simer was a Senior Manager in EY US's Professional Practice group, where he focused on system of quality control matters. He previously held roles at Deloitte and Veris Consulting.

Mr. Simer holds a Bachelor of Science in finance and marketing from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Virginia, Washington, DC, and Ohio, and is also a Certified Fraud Examiner.
