Office of External Affairs
Jackie Cottrell is the director of the Office of External Affairs, which leads the PCAOB’s communications, government affairs, and outreach efforts.
Ms. Cottrell has more than 25 years of experience in government, corporate, and nonprofit environments. Prior to joining the PCAOB in June 2020, she served as the chief of staff for Senator Pat Roberts for almost 18 years, overseeing all policy, communications, and constituent-relations activities. Previously, Ms. Cottrell had directed communications in Roberts’ Senate office and during the campaign that led to his election to the U.S. Senate in 1996.
Elsewhere on Capitol Hill, Ms. Cottrell was press secretary for the House Agriculture Committee from 1995 to 1996 and also held that role for Representatives Tom Tauke and Scott Klug from 1989 to 1994.
In the private sector, from 1997 - 2002, Ms. Cottrell led communications efforts for the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America. As Deputy Vice President of Public Affairs, she was a spokesperson for the industry. She has also advised the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association as Senior Media Counsel.
Ms. Cottrell received her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and English from Wellesley College and her Master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Missouri – Columbia.
