Before taking on the role of Counsel to the Director, she served as Deputy Director in DEI where she supervised attorneys in investigations of possible violations of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, PCAOB rules, applicable federal securities laws relating to the preparation and issuance of audit reports, and professional standards.
Prior to joining the PCAOB, Ms. Armstrong served as Director of NASD’s Office of Regulation Policy in the Department of Member Regulation. Before joining NASD, Ms. Armstrong was a Branch Chief at the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Enforcement. She also practiced law at a Washington, D.C. law firm.
Ms. Armstrong received a B.A., cum laude, from Harvard College and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
