Forums & Public Outreach

The PCAOB Office of Outreach and Small Business Liason hosts in-person forums around the country each year to make sure all registered audit firms have access to timely information. Forums on Auditing in the Small Business Environment provide updates about PCAOB activities to registered firms that audit public companies considered to be small businesses. Forums for Auditors of Broker-Dealers are primarily designed to share information with registered firms that audit broker-dealers.

Besides providing important updates, the forums are an opportunity for Board members and PCAOB staff to receive input on issues related to the Board’s work.

Webinar Outreach 

In 2015, the PCAOB started a webinar outreach initiative as a way to provide audit firms with a more efficient and cost-effective way to receive timely, targeted, PCAOB updates.

The Office of Outreach also acts as a liaison between the PCAOB and accounting firms and others affected by the Board's work. The Office assists with arranging Board member and PCAOB staff speaking engagements, administers the PCAOB Scholarship Program, and serves as a contact for anyone who may have questions about the Board’s regulatory activities or needs assistance in locating publicly available information issued by the Board.

PCAOB Academic Scholarships

The Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 requires that monetary penalties imposed by the PCAOB be used to fund merit scholarships for students in accredited accounting degree programs. The Board has established the PCAOB Scholarship Program to provide a source of funding to encourage outstanding undergraduate and graduate students to pursue a career in auditing.
