Forums & Public Outreach

The PCAOB hosts in-person forums around the country each year to make sure all registered audit firms have access to timely information. Forums on Auditing in the Small Business Environment provide updates about PCAOB activities to registered firms that audit public companies considered to be small businesses. Forums for Auditors of Broker-Dealers are primarily designed to share information with registered firms that audit broker-dealers.

Besides providing important updates, the forums are an opportunity for Board members and PCAOB staff to receive input on issues related to the board’s work.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s forums were recorded. The content is available to view on the 2020 forum event page.

Webinar Outreach

The PCAOB also has a webinar outreach initiative as a way to provide audit firms with a more efficient and cost-effective way to receive timely, targeted PCAOB updates.

Event information, including slides and audio recordings, is available on the pages below.

The Outreach staff also act as liaisons between the PCAOB and audit firms and others affected by the board's work. They assist with arranging Board member and PCAOB staff speaking engagements, administers the PCAOB Scholarship Program, and serve as a contact for anyone who may have questions about PCAOB regulatory activities or who needs assistance in locating publicly available information issued by the PCAOB.

Speaking Engagements

As another way to reach investors, auditors, audit committee members and other constituents, Board members and senior staff participate in numerous programs around the world.

PCAOB Scholars Program

The Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 requires that monetary penalties imposed by the PCAOB be used to fund merit scholarships for students in accredited accounting degree programs. The Board has established the PCAOB Scholars Program to provide a source of funding to encourage outstanding undergraduate and graduate students to pursue a career in auditing.
