PCAOB Announces Webinar on Inspections of Auditors of Brokers and Dealers

Washington, Dec. 23, 2015

The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board today announced the date of its first 2016 webinar in which PCAOB staff will provide an update on findings and developments in the PCAOB interim inspection program for auditors of brokers and dealers.

Continuing an outreach initiative that began this year, the webinar will discuss recent inspection findings released in Board public reports and will also cover the inspection process under the interim inspection program. It will take place on Monday, January 11, 2016, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. EST.

"Webinars held this year were well received by the firms that attended and I encourage further participation next year," said James R. Doty, PCAOB Chairman. "In 2016, we will continue our use of webinars to provide timely and targeted information to auditors and other interested parties."

The PCAOB held the first two webinars in early 2015. PCAOB webinars are intended to reach stakeholders on important time sensitive issues and to make it more efficient and cost-effective for auditors, investors, audit committee members, and others to receive PCAOB updates. Recordings of the webinars are available on the PCAOB website.

"This interactive webinar is an opportunity for broker-dealer auditors to hear from the PCAOB and to provide feedback on developments in the regulatory landscape," said Mary Sjoquist, Director of the PCAOB Office of Outreach and Small Business Liaison.

The webinar is open to members of PCAOB-registered firms. There is no fee to participate, but preregistration by Thursday, January 7, 2016, is required. Participants also have the opportunity to earn continuing professional education credits. For more information and to register, click here. An audio version of the webinar will be made available on the PCAOB website.

If you have registration questions, please contact Margaret Totten at [email protected] or (202) 207-9081.

Additional webinars for 2016, some of which may be of broader interest to all PCAOB-registered auditors, will be announced at a later date.
