Renee Phalin

Renee Phalin is Deputy Director, People and Regional Operations, in the Division of Registration and Inspections. She advises the director on all division personnel matters, and oversees all division personnel responsibilities, including hiring, training, compensation, performance management, travel, expenses, and regional office operations.  She was appointed to the position in May 2018.

Ms. Phalin joined the PCAOB Division of Registration and Inspections in 2004, and has served in various leadership roles, including as the national associate director and strategic adviser on the budget, strategic planning, critical personnel matters, resource management, and information technology. She joined the PCAOB as an inspector, working on large and small firm inspections.

Prior to joining the PCAOB, Ms. Phalin was a senior manager in the audit practice of Deloitte & Touche LLP. She began her career as an auditor at Price Waterhouse, now PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.

She received a B.S. in accounting from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) and is a certified public accountant.
