Chair Williams Statement on Swearing-In to a Second Term

Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) Chair Erica Y. Williams made the following statement after being sworn in at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) today to her second term beginning on Oct. 25, 2024, and running through Oct. 24, 2029.

"I am honored and excited for the opportunity to continue working alongside my fellow Board Members and the talented and committed PCAOB staff to protect investors. I am proud of our work together and eager to continue executing our mission on behalf of investors who depend on U.S. capital markets to build their American dream. I want to again thank Chair Gensler and Commissioners Peirce, Crenshaw, Uyeda, and Lizárraga for this incredible responsibility, and I look forward to continuing this important work."

The PCAOB is a nonprofit corporation established by Congress to oversee the audits of public companies in order to protect investors and further the public interest in the preparation of informative, accurate, and independent audit reports. The PCAOB also oversees the audits of brokers and dealers registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission, including compliance reports filed pursuant to federal securities laws.
