Christina Ho Sworn in as a PCAOB Board Member

The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) announced that Christina Ho today was sworn in as a Board member. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) conducted the swearing-in ceremony virtually.

The PCAOB also noted, as previously announced by the SEC, that Erica Y. Williams, Anthony C. Thompson, and Kara M. Stein will join the Board at later dates and that Duane M. DesParte will continue to serve on the Board for the remainder of his term ending on October 24, 2023. Upon joining the Board, Ms. Williams will become Chairperson. Until then, Board Member DesParte will continue to serve as the Acting Chairperson.

“I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of the new Board members, and congratulate Ms. Ho on her swearing in earlier today,” said Acting Chairperson DesParte. “I am honored to continue my service on the Board and look forward to working alongside my fellow Board members to advance the PCAOB’s critically important investor protection mission.”

Upon her swearing-in, Board Member Ho added, “As a CPA, I understand the important role the auditing profession plays in strengthening investor confidence, as well as the PCAOB’s critical oversight mission to protect investors and further the public interest. I appreciate this opportunity to join with my fellow Board members as we strive to improve audit quality.” 

Board Member Ho has 28 years of broad experience in public finance, policy development, accounting and auditing, disclosure modernization, data analytics, and technology innovation. She most recently was Vice President of Government Analytics and Innovation at Elder Research. Board Member Ho previously served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Financial Transparency & Accounting Policy at the U.S. Department of the Treasury and as Controller and Interim Chief Financial Officer for the University of Maryland College Park. Board Member Ho has held other senior positions with the U.S. Department of the Treasury and was a Senior Manager with Deloitte & Touche LLP. Board Member Ho, who is a certified public accountant, earned a B.S. from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. She has been appointed to the PCAOB for an initial term ending on October 24, 2025.
