Kent Bonham Named Director of the PCAOB’s Office of Communications and Engagement

Washington, Sep. 12, 2022

Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) Chair Erica Y. Williams today announced she has appointed Kent Bonham as Director of the Office of Communications and Engagement (OCE), effective immediately. Mr. Bonham, who has led the office in an acting capacity since April 2022, will continue to oversee the PCAOB’s external and internal communications, government affairs, and outreach to investors and other important stakeholders.

“Meaningful engagement with our stakeholders is critical to informing the PCAOB’s work to protect investors,” said Chair Williams. “Kent’s deep experience and proven dedication to our investor-protection mission will be invaluable as he leads the PCAOB’s work to strengthen our communications and engagement efforts.”

Mr. Bonham joined the PCAOB in 2007 and has earned roles of increasing responsibility related to the organization’s communications and outreach. Before being named OCE’s Acting Director, he was the office’s Deputy Director, overseeing the PCAOB’s relations with the U.S. Congress, as well as various federal and state government agencies. His responsibilities also included managing the PCAOB Scholars Program, the PCAOB forums for auditors of small businesses and broker-dealers, and other outreach efforts.

“Each day, the people of the PCAOB work hard to strengthen U.S. capital markets for the benefit of investors, and it’s been an honor to help share that story with policymakers and other key stakeholders over the years,” said Mr. Bonham. “I look forward to enhancing our organization’s communications and engagement as we carry out our mission and the Board’s vision.”

Mr. Bonham joined the PCAOB after six years with Clark & Weinstock, Inc. Earlier, he served as Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Director to Senator Chuck Hagel of Nebraska. A Nebraska native, Mr. Bonham received a B.A. from Colby College and an MBA from Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business.
