Mary Moore Hamrick to Join PCAOB Staff as Government Relations Director
The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board announced today that Mary Moore Hamrick will join the Board’s staff July 7 as Director of Government Relations.
“Mary Moore has a unique background in business, politics and law that will make her a terrific member of the PCAOB team,” said Board Chairman William J. McDonough. “The Board’s mandate requires clear communication with lawmakers in Congress and the states, as well as our fellow regulators, whether here or abroad. I am delighted that Mary Moore will help us with that effort.”
Ms. Hamrick, 45, comes to the PCAOB after nine years with New York Life Insurance Co., where she was vice president, heading the company’s Washington, D.C., lobbying office. While with New York Life, she served a term as chairman of the American Council of Life Insurers’ Federal Legislative Strategy Group.
"I am honored to join the able and experienced PCAOB staff assembled by Chairman McDonough and the board as they lead us in the important work ahead,” said Ms. Hamrick. “I look forward to this opportunity to build a strong government relations program for this new organization, so vital to our nation's economic future."
Prior to joining New York Life, Ms. Hamrick was minority counsel to the U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce from 1990 to 1994, dealing with insurance and product safety issues, among others.
Ms. Hamrick was an investments representative with Morgan Stanley & Co. for three years. She began her career as an account executive with a sports marketing firm in Cleveland, Ohio.
Ms. Hamrick received her bachelor’s degree cum laude from Duke University in 1980 and her J.D. and MBA degrees from the University of North Carolina in 1987.
As Director of Government Relations, Ms. Hamrick will report directly to the Chairman and the members of the PCAOB, as will the Director of Public Affairs.
