PCAOB Posts Discussion Materials From Summer 2026 Meetings of the Inspections Modernization Council

WASHINGTON, Aug. 24, 2026

The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) today posted select materials shared for discussion purposes with the Inspections Modernization Council (IMC) for its meetings in July and August 2026. The discussion materials – which address topics including the development of a QC-informed inspection approach, use of technology, inspection reporting, and remediation – are available at the IMC’s page on the PCAOB website.

Launched in May 2026, the IMC is a resource group composed of outside parties with capital markets expertise and knowledge of the PCAOB’s inspection activities. The IMC’s objective is to provide perspectives to inform the PCAOB’s efforts to modernize its inspection program, as part of the PCAOB’s continued efforts to improve audit quality.

“The PCAOB’s inspection program has contributed meaningfully to improving audit quality over time, and, to build on these accomplishments, we need to continue to evolve,” said PCAOB Chairman Demetrios (Jim) Logothetis. “Since its formation, the IMC has provided us with excellent input to inform our work in this area, and we thank all IMC members for sharing their time and perspectives.”

The PCAOB is posting the IMC discussion materials as part of its commitment to transparency and stakeholder engagement as it works on inspections modernization. Stakeholders with questions or ideas regarding the PCAOB’s inspections modernization efforts are encouraged to contact the PCAOB at [email protected].

Note: the materials posted today were prepared by PCAOB staff for discussion purposes. Except for the Board’s authorization to share and post the materials, the materials have not otherwise been approved, adopted, requested, directed, selected, or authorized by the Board.
