Statement From the Board on Passing of Former Board Member Steven B. Harris
The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board issued the following statement on the passing of former Board Member Steven B. Harris.
“The Board is saddened to learn of the death of Steven B. Harris, who served two terms as a Board Member from 2008 to 2018. The Board extends its deepest condolences to Steve’s family and loved ones.
“Steve helped draft the Sarbanes-Oxley Act that created the PCAOB and was a champion of the organization’s mission during his time serving on the Board. Perhaps his biggest accomplishment was founding and chairing the Investor Advisory Group. In addition, the PCAOB accomplished many of Steve’s other priorities, including modernizing the auditor’s reporting model, adopting important disclosure requirements to make the auditor more accountable to investors, and improving audit quality."
