The Honorable Michael G. Oxley, who passed away January 1, helped restore investor confidence in the markets at a critical time in this country. He co-sponsored the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, a bill that protects investors and the general public and established the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board.
Congressman Oxley led the House of Representatives in examining and responding to the loss of investor confidence in the capital markets following the financial accounting and auditing scandals of 2001-2002.
Mike Oxley will be missed. The PCAOB offers its condolences and sympathies to the Oxley family.
